This DIY LiPo Supercharger/Booster (developed the electronics engineer/YouTuber GreatScott! and produced by Elektor) can charge a single-cell LiPo battery and protect it against the effects of overvoltage, overload, and short-circuits. Additionally, it can boost the battery voltage to 5 V or 12 V. The boosted output voltage is protected by an ‘eFuse’ IC outputting 1.52 A at 5 V or 0.76 A at 12 V maximum.

The charger part of the circuit needs a +5 V power supply which can be connected through USB-C, or simply two wires soldered to pads on the PCB.

In addition, other connections can be soldered to pads on the PCB or by using single pinheaders.

Please note: Battery is not included.

The board uses a DC/DC Converter, an IC charger, and an e Fuse from Texas Instruments. The battery protection IC is from Xysemi and provides under-voltage lockout, over current protection, and reverse battery protection.

The board is connected to the power and recharges the batteries via a USB-C connection.

      Finally a battery charger and DC/DC converter with USB-C connection! Just missing what Fiachra Judge already mentioned the possibility to use a LiFePo4 battery and a 3.3V output. Keep it up!

      Ohne Bestückungsplan!

      Da kauft man ein Kit, das sich vielversprechend anhört, und bekommt noch nicht einmal einen Plan aus dem hervorgeht, welches Bauteil an welche Stelle kommt. Der Artikel schreibt dazu nichts und auch einen Download gibt es nicht. Es bleibt einem also nichts Anderes übrig als zu warten, bis die nächste Ausgabe des Elektor Magazins erscheint, in dem die Schaltung (hoffentlich) besprochen wird.

      Great circuit

      Love it, thank you.
      Would it be possible to put a jumper/switch/autodetect in this to enable the use of the LiFePO4 tech which is very much coming to the fore - I am using them for the much greater density and capacity. BMS systems are sadly not very easy to find, and this approach, delivering 5v and 12v is ideal.
      A 3.3v output would also be very useful for the myriad of devices out there that need the lower voltage.

      Useful and great for learning

      Mail to my city is very expensive but I still buy it, the components are clearly labeled, the only thing I want to improve is the board is too small and not easy to solder, I don`t mind a bit larger and use some larger footprint SMT components, also should consider a plug or terminal for connecting the battery, but it`s a good board.
